LA retrospective data

Anonymized data from patients having undergone axillary brachial plexus block between January 2017 and December 2021 at the Geneva University Hospitals (Switzerland). Data was gathered for a retrospective cohort study. The primary outcome was the proportion of patients who received local anesthetics doses higher than the maximum safe dose according to scientifically grounded calculation rules. Secondary outcomes included the proportion of patients who received doses higher than calculated according to actual and ideal body weights, the incidence of symptoms compatible with local anesthetic systemic toxicity , and the incidence of vascular puncture. The influence of patient age and sex, and of operator sex and experience, were also analyzed.
